Enjoy the Brilliant Palatine City built by Abderraman III, the Great Caliph of Al Andalus.
We visited the archaeological site of a palatine city of 112 hectares of which today we visit 10% of what was a brilliant city that the first Caliph of Al Andalus Abderraman III ordered to build in the middle of the tenth century to demonstrate the great power he wielded.
At 8 kilometers from what was the great capital of the Caliphate of Al Andalus in the Golden Age of the Umayyad Dynasty, where more than 500,000 inhabitants lived in the great capital of Western Islam, the palatial part of that great city is preserved, the highest area of Medina Azahara, where the Caliph, his heir and his Vizier Yafar lived.
An important fortified city like no other would have been until then and where the luxury and power that the Great Umayyad Caliph showed surprised all the embassies from Christian Kingdoms, Empires such as Byzantium and other Emirates and Caliphates that came to pay their respects to the Great Caliph of Al Andalus.

The price of this visit includes:
- The guided walking tour of Medina Azahara.
- If you have booked the visit by bus, the route is from Cordoba to the parking lot of Medina Azahara and shuttle to the archaeological site.
-If you book the bus on your own, it is IMPORTANT that you buy the 10:45 am tickets (winter timetable). Any other option is not compatible with our visit.
Approximate duration:
- 3 hours in winter.
- 2 hours in summer.

WINTER SCHEDULE (From September 21 to June 20, 2026):
With bus Tuesday to Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Red Cross traffic circle.
Without bus Tuesday to Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at the parking lot of the Medina Azahara Museum.
SUMMER SCHEDULE (From June 21 to September 20, 2025):
With bus from Tuesday to Saturday at 9:15 p.m. Red Cross traffic circle.
Without bus from Tuesday to Saturday at 21:15 hours at the parking lot of the museum of Medina Azahara.

MEETING POINT:
- By bus from Cordoba: to take the bus the bus stop is at Paseo de la Victoria (Bus stop at Glorieta Cruz Roja, which is between Hospital Cruz Roja and Hotel Eurostar Palace). THE GUIDE WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU AT THE PARKING LOT OF MEDINA AZAHARA.
- Without bus: at the Medina Azahara Museum parking lot.
It is recommended to be at the meeting point 5 minutes before departure.
Activity details
- Where it takes place: visitor reception center and at the archaeological site.
- Aimed at: customers who have normal mobility and who want to enjoy the rich heritage that we treasure. Singles, couples, families, companies, congresses, associations, groups organized at origin,... For people with physical disabilities and / or mobility problems, it is not a recommended visit because we go down many steps and then we have to climb back up ramps with the same inclination that we have descended.

If weather conditions are so adverse that the visit cannot take place, the full amount will be refunded.
